Please read this file before installing WinSafe95.
If you have any questions or need any assistance
please contact us via E-mail or phone.
We will responsed to E-mail the same day.
The setup program must be used to install WinSafe95. Follow these
instructions carefully!
The setup program will give you on screen intructions.
Due to the vast differences in computer hardware and software
WinSafe95 must be programed to your individual computer.
WinSafe95 looks for and reads all Hidden files. Most
other programs will bypass Read Only and Hidden files(Read Only
and Hidden are attributes).
WinSafe95 is one of the most advanced backup utilities available.
WinSafe95 will fix small problems as well as most major crashes.
WinSafe95 will not work properly if you do not use the
Setup Program and then follow the steps below.
If you reinstall WinSafe 95 you must uninstall WinSafe95 first, use
the Uninstall command under UTILITIES on the menu bar. Besure all
Windows programs are closed.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
NOTES: Please note that once the program is installed you should never have
to reinstall unless you delete the winsafe.ini
Also please note that if at any time you test and do not finish
testing and shut down the interface and then recieve an error
please edit the winsafe ini file to read under the start section
[start]
4=-1 If it reads 1 then you will get error message of menu
stack
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
WinSafe95 will tell you when the installation is complete.
You will need to restart your computer to complete the installation.
HOW TO INSTALL:
1) Run the setup program. If a MSDOS window stays open
please close it and continue.
2) Follow the on screen instructions
3) WinSafe95 will now look for non system hidden files. If it finds
one, a message box will appear and tell you that WinSafe95 can not
find a file, line 18 or 42. Write the file name and path down on
a piece of paper ie:(c:\Windows\system.sys) and click OK.
4) If Winsafe95 finds any additional files you will be asked to use
the attribute command. You will now see in the MSDOS window a
line similar to the one below:
"A SHR SYSTEM.DAT C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.DAT"
make note of the letters between the A and SYSTEM.DAT.
In the example the letters are SHR. Then close the MSDOS window.
5) In then next window to appear type the letters that appeared
in the previous MSDOS window (without spaces), and click OK.
If in step 8 only an R was present type the letter R if no
letter appeared click CANCEL.
6) After you have completed step 5 with all files reported click on
SETUP on the menu bar and then on START TEST again. You should not
receive any messages that WinSafe95 can not read a file. If you
still get a message click on SETUP and then WINSAFE.INI Look for
[HIDDEN] and verify that you have entered the correct file name
and path. Then repeat step 6.
7) Next click on the REPORT Button, This will take a few moments
longer to finish then the Test did.
8) When the Report is finished a window will appear and tell you
to click on TEST COMPLETE and to reboot. Close WinSafe95 and
reboot. when you reenter Windows WinSafe may tell you to backup.
Then Backup.
After rebooting the first time WinSafe95 will tell you if it can
not read a file. If Winsafe95 can not read a file adjust the startup
Wait Time.
ADJUSTING THE WAIT TIME
WinSafe95 can not read files that are in use.
Use the SETUP menu to increase the wait time.
The value is set to 7. Increasing the number will cause a
longer wait time and decreasing it will shorten wait time.
WinSafe95 must wait till other programs stop reading the
registry and all
programs(i.g. virus scanners)have finished booting into
Windows. (Booting is not finishing scanning) Try rebooting
before continuing. If you still get a message window that
WinSafe95 can not read a file go to step 4.
TIP: A good way to test the wait time is directly after Winsafe95
finishes booting into windows is to click on REPORT and if you
get a report that is telling you that a file has been added then
the wait time need to be increased. Generally the wait time never
needs to go beyond 14.
9) Backup after all programs have completely booted to Windows.
Be sure that Winsafe95 has stopped searching for files.
You should not have an MSDOS windows staying open after the Setup
is complete.
10) Note that you may not be able see the backup files because
they are all "hidden" to protect them for virus and user tampering.
WinSafe95 will tell you when you need to make new backup files.
11) Click on the MSD button if nothing happens then use the find
command at the start button and type msd.exe. If you find it place
it in your windows directory.
If your system does not have MSD.exe install on it; you will find
it on your Windows 95 cdrom. Use the Find feature at the Start
button. You may download this file from Mircosoft on the Internet
or from our web site file- Msd.zip

SETUP IS NOW COMPLETED
It is suggested that at this time you click on UTILITIES in the
menu bar then on SYSTEM INFORMATION and print out that file.
This is a very large file,so besure to have enough paper in your
printer. If not at least print it to a file. This file contains
all the configurations of your system, if you crash because of
hardware failure you will need this file.
There are two other text files available for reading. The HELP
text and the Restore text.
